Two months

Wow! I've reached two months continuously without a drink!

How did I do it? Well, a lot of AA meetings and right at the beginning of the process I asked someone to be my sponsor. I'd been down that line before but this time I took it more seriously.

I rang my sponsor and two other people in AA every day - rang them, not just sending texts. I also talked to my wife about my recovery plan.

In the morning I read either the Big Book or the AA publication Living Sober and then make notes in my journal. I do a bit of prayer and medidation every day if I remember.

I've also stopped smoking (see other thread) and been really careful over my diet and sleep.

Life has improved very significantly. Of course, I'm grateful to SR. But in particular, for me, it was the face-to-face support of AA people which made the key difference.

I plan to keep up the programme at the same pace until I have finished the Steps. I am now on Step Four.

Wow, Endless, that's very inspiring for me, as a newly sober person. Thank you for posting-you must be very proud of yourself.

Thanks for your support guys. I did get three months a few years ago but I haven't had this long in ages.

I worked out that I drank for 30 days in 2014 despite telling myself I was in recovery. I just didn't feel I was making any significant progress, though perhaps that was a period of tapering off and adjustment, preparing me for absitinence.
