My First Post and Daily Log of Sobriety
Hi everyone,
This is my first post to this forum. I recently found this site and have come to respect and appreciate this community so very much.
I am an addict. I have had so many of the euphoric ups and crushing downs that one would likely expect from the life of an addict. I do not want to be defined by my addiction. I want to be defined by my strength.
Today is my first day of sobriety.
If it's not a bother, I'd like to post in this thread each day as I get my legs underneath me. I want to write each day that I have met the expectations of the strong members of this community; I want to earn your respect. I believe that this is a powerful motivator for me.
Thank you so much for reading. I wish you the very best and all of the happiness in the world.

Welcome, Steve123, to SR and starting a sobriety journal. Look forward to reading it.
(Remember that there may be ups and downs along your journey; your SR friends will rejoice at your successes, encourage you in times of struggle, and pick you up if you stumble.)

Steve! Welcome! I did the same thing in my early recovery. I have a thread titled "XANAX".... dont let the title fool you, it is about so much more than xanax. The community here helped me so much along my path. I actually met a friend on this site that I consider to be one of my best friends today and I can say that soberrecovery.com has played a large role in my 3 years of clean time. SHaring your thoughts and getting feedback is so healthy for us as addicts. We cannot always trust our own thinking, it is nice to have an outsiders perspective without any biases. It is helpful to get to self-help meetings as well. I found NA to be my home but there are so many variations.
Good luck on your endeavor. I know that if I can do it anyone can. The first step for me was to get honest. If you take a look at the thread i started out as a completed worthless woman with no dignity or hope and now I am a strong and confident woman who works and takes care of her family (siblings, parents and nieces and nephews). It is amazing what we can do when we are willing to put in the work!!
Congratulations on your first leg of the journey and we are all here for you!

Hi everyone!
Thank you so much for your responses. I know that you are all among the most considerate people in the entire world and that you would, as Leigh put it, pick me up if I stumble. I am going to work so very hard to make my posts, which are honest daily updates of my recovery, an opportunity for you to rejoice at my successes (to again quite Leigh).
I am one day sober and am into day two! I look forward to continuing to learn from and about the other SR members.
Also, I read in another thread that my posts will move to the blog section if I get to a second part. I look forward to having this first thread be a foundation of success for me to reflect upon in the future!

Hi everyone!
I'm just checking in and sharing that I've made it to day 3! I haven't been to a day 3 in a while. I know that with the weekend comes less busyness for me, and that boredom has been a damaging emotion when it comes to my addiction, but I know that I can make it through!
I just want to again say thank you to any person who takes a moment out of his or her day to open this thread. Quite sincerely, I want to impress you. I want to delight you with the story of my success. This desire has so far trumped my incessant "Addictive Voice", and I know that it will continue to!

On the contrary, there will come a day where you'll realize how fulfilling your life is without your addiction
