Please remember me

Good Morning everyone,

Im starting this thread for me, I havent visited this site in Quite some time. Since January Ive had some Challenges and wonderful things happen. But lately for Ive had the urge to tempt a drink. Forgetting what it was like. Forgetting how hard it was. Sort of fooling myself. So I revisited the site and read several threads. Hey, I even recognize some of the names which means your still truckin and thats great. So i guess what Im trying to say is that for me its important to remember.
-Remember the Heart Ache It caused
-Remember How hard it was to stop
-Remember All those sleepless nights and How sick I was
-Remember Who you are!

-Last Remember Where you need to be!

9 months sober and still truckin right along with ya!

Thanks for letting me share a minute, Phil

hi Phil,
Congratulation on your 9 months. Be proud. My name is Lin I am comming up on 9 month August 10th. So we can truck along together. Life is a lot better. Yes there are tough days, and I get evil thoughts, but I have to admit I like myself alot more these days. I can remember what I did yesterday and Its nice to not see the awful looks my family use to give me. I have some self respect i didnt have when I was drinking. My friend at AA just "went out" and came back. She, believe me, did not look like she was having a good time. SO when its a hot day and a cold beer sounds tempting I see her face and its just not worth it. Hang in there. Keep posting especially when that voice whispers in your ear, we will be here for you.
Love,
Lin

Hi, Phil,
Thanks for the reminder! I'm new to sobriety, 25 days today! Some days are very easy, some days are very hard! Chatting last night I mentioned that I miss drinking and the buzz I used to get. I was asked the question "Do you miss how it affected your life?" Boy, did that snap me right back into reality! I sure don't!!!!

I'm so grateful to be sober today! No more lies, sneaking, hiding, guilt, remorse, trying to remember what happened the night before, is my husband mad/disappointed in me, again!!!!!

Thank God for multiple chances!!!!! Because I sure took advantage of em!!!!

Phil, glad you have started this thread. today is the last day of week 10 for me. thanks for the memories. it is a good thing to remember why we quit and the hardships of quitting. it just goes to show you that little voice is always waiting for another chance to rule us. one drink is all it takes to really get back on the road to total self destruction. glad to be truckin with you.

Welcome Back, Phil!!! :wavey: Thanks so much for the reminders. I have just over 5 months clean and sober, and I know the struggle you are speaking of. I often think of having a drink, but that thought is quickly followed by memories of how truly awful it was when I was out there. The further away I get from my last drink, the harder it is for me to see the positive changes in my life. It is good for me to remember how bad it used to be so I can recognize how much better it is today. Again, thanks for the reminder!!!

Phil,
I wasn't here when you were before, but welcome back anyway. This is a good place to remember where we came from, and where we don't want to return. Someone said at a meeting the other day, it's easier to stay sober than it is to get sober.

Hey welcome back and congrats to everyone!
Here's keeping it green for me:
In the past 2-3 weeks I'm on my into work (at 6:30am) and TWICE not once, TWICE I have seen someone open up their car door and throw up. And I'll tell you what, they looked like they had a hangover, not sick from the flu. And that snapped me right back into place. That is what I used to do. At a red light, pull over, open the door and throw up. I would show up at work on time but I spent a lot of time in the bathroom throwing up. It got to the point that I would do it at my desk in my office!! Now that is sick. And I NEVER HAVE TO LIVE LIKE THAT AGAIN!! THANK YOU GOD AND AA!
WOW - thanks for reminding me where I came from.

David 1 07-29-2004 09:29 PM

-Remember and don't forget how powerful our disease is!!

Ten months sober for me and I can relate to every other post here (except for throwing up in the office)!!!

Phil, are you getting to AA meetings? We have to deal with our disease day by day and the support from a meeting is worth it's weight in gold!

Take care!

Dave

Yes I attend meetings twice a week. Id like to go more and need to make more time. Its working and going to school thats got most of my time. Not an easy thing to do sometimes. But hey If it wasnt for sobriety and AA, I would have never decided to go back to school. So Gods Got some plan for me I see and it feels great.

sam082602 07-30-2004 08:16 PM

Right on; cuz' I remember all of that stuff every single day, Phil; and that is how I am able to celebrate my daily reprieve from alcohol and drugs so party on or as you said keep on truckin right along as we all trudge that road to happy destiny!! Love ya!!
Love, Samantha
