Pain in rib cage- in my head?

So I've been getting pains in the left hand side of my rib cage. I know I'm fine, I went to the doctors and everything was fine. I relapsed but realistically a weeks worth of damage wont change that.

So what's going on here? I'm an anxious guy, I'm thinking I might be convincing myself I have a pain that's not really there.

I've had this before, during panic attacks, without fail, my left arm will start hurting, because I'm afraid of heart attacks.

(I don't suffer from panic attacks very often now, alcohol clearly played a bit part in that)

The mind is a powerful thing.

Sounds familiar, I had all sorts of tests run on me, because I was convinced I was going to have a heart attack.

ECG, stress test... Etc.... Healthy as a horse, could not find anything wrong.

All just anxiety and paranoia driven. (daily drinking mixed with drug sprees)

I did find one thing out. Heart attack pain, will get you smack bang in the middle of your diaphragm / chest plate.

Heart specialist told me that, said if the vague nagging pains, that I got mostly on the left of my chest... ever became incredibly sharp and painful and got me right in the middle... Ring an ambulance straight away.

I've had the same thing for years and had everything checked out. Turns out it was my actual rib which was coming from my spine just from bending the same way for years and years. Now i go to the chiropractor and do stretches and it's much better but not completely gone. I am a nervous person as well and was convinced there was something seriously wrong but one day(after several visits i decided on another doctor) the doctor felt around and said, yes it's your ribs that's bending. It could be that.

Yup, both sides for me. Was convinced I had cirrhosis AND pancreatitis. Both were negative but my heart numbers were not so good. Yes, the pains abated with abstinence. Yes, I'm grateful but very aware of what alcohol and nicotine do to the body from months of research.

No harm in going back to the Dr and mentioning your concerns, just to be safe!! :)

Yes, you could re-check with your dr if you are worried.

None of us are Doctors Tom - I'd probably go back to my Dr or get a second opinion somewhere else :)
