Day 1.... hopefully the last day 1!!!

So we have been on a 4 night break with our son, we go home tomorrow. To says it's been stressful is an understatement and I've drunk the past 3 nights using the stress as an excuse. And because 'we are on holiday so I deserve it'. And dozens of other excuses. Haven't got drunk despite drinking 1.5 bottles of wine one evening. Didn't even enjoy it...but did it anyway??!!?? So this is our last full day and the only things I will be drinking are cups of tea and root beer had a very good talk to husband and told him I didn't feel very supported and so hopefully now he realises how important this is. So, here we go

Hi Mavis
Didn't even enjoy it...but did it anyway??!!??
Yeah, I did that too. Why? Who knows why. However, use it when your AV starts trash talking. Tell it that drinking is not really enjoyable like it used to be, so your not going to do it again. Being sober is much better.

Glad you're battling back, Mavis! Glad you talked to your husband, too.

I was on about 1 to 2 bottles of wine a night before I quit- I wasn't enjoying them either. I had a few stops and starts but now I have a year under my belt and feel so much better. You can do this!

Hi.
Finally for me it was repeating to myself: “ If I don’t pick up the first drink I won’t have to TRY to get sober AGAIN.” That was a long time ago and it still works.

BE WELL

Thank you guys you are all amazing

We took little one swimming this morning, hubby took him in pool while I sat in cafe for half an hour reading my book (the hunger games) and although wine was available and my av was saying go on, you hate these places, this week has been really stressful and you deserve to chill out for a bit with a nice merlot... I got hot chocolate instead.

When cooking his tea instead of having a glass of wine I had a diet root beer. It's our last night away and we are having pizza for tea later - with a lovely cup of tea

Good for you, Mavis. You have the power to make this the start of something truly transformational

MMMM; hot chocolate sounds great Mavis; have you tried Godiva's hot chocolate - sinful.

You can do this, Mavis. I had so many Day 1s that I lost count; finally it stuck; don't ever give up.
