Well well, will ya look at that!
I got my one-month chip at the noon meeting. Quite honestly, I don't know how to feel about it. I'm a bit ambivalent, a little unsure of all this positive attention, I want to sweep it under the rug until I have 20 years (LOL). Embarrassed, mostly? Idk. I guess the feelings will sort themselves out in the wash. Just grateful to be alive and sober and busy getting life back on track.
Hugs to all.
I was so the opposite - hate attention and always deflected any type of congratulations. Turned the moment into one of self deprecating humor. Today, I think a little differently. It's almost like it's ok for me to criticize people if I accept no congratulations. Ask no quarter, give no quarter.
I think it's important and shows growth to take these milestone measure with
grace but Think of the message of hope for others!! That's truly what I celebrate with chips.
Tomorrow I will pick up 4 months....
Today, we and sober friends are all winners!!!!!
peace
Good work Rogue! I'm glad for you.
My first time around I didn't want the attention when I marked my months. After my relapse and work afterwords, darn right I pat myself on the back because it is hard work. you have done yourself proud. A friend of mine bakes a cake for her sobriety date. She has eight years now and she stays excited. I hope you stay excited too!

Congratulations Rogue
A month is awesome work.
Aren't we alcoholic folk complicated?
We don't like criticism
But... Dag nab it... We don't like praise either.
Try to believe other people when they say your doing really well. The only person who has trouble seeing how well you are doing.... Is you.
It's a blind spot we all have, that's why it's important to have a crew around us to tell us now and then.
Even if we don't like hearing it.
