Money saved!

Earlier in the month, I explained I worked in a smoking bar. I quit smoking and drinking at the same time. I couldn't think of what to do when a patron offered to buy me a drink and someone on here suggested I collect the money and donate instead (I'm sorry, I forgot who had this awesome idea)
I drank 1 beer on a Sunday, then 2 the next Monday, I went the rest of the week dry, then fell so hard off the wagon the next Sunday. So hard it hurt. Emotionally, physically...well I have 9 days back again and what I did was in addition to the money people would have bought me alcohol with, I put a dollar in each day I didn't drink. I am pleased to announce I have saved 30 dollars so far.
I will be donating the money to the county wildlife rehab center. They specialize in rehabbing eagles and other raptors and it will feel good to know that my little donation helped a good cause.
Going strong!!!

Excellent SoberWolf, you are the best! I'm on my way to the wildlife rehab right now. It's gorgeous out and I want to thank my feathered buddies.

What a great cause and a good motivator to stay off the alcohol. I love wildlife and camping. Whole new experience for me sober and I like it. I am saving the money I would have spent on alcohol for a future get away vacation for my wife and myself. Best wishes to you and your wildlife friends.

The amount of money I spent on alcohol was scary thinking back. :(

I used to think fancy coffee was a waste of money, the irony eh? but now I splash out every weekend on a nice coffee and a muffin as a treat, I also started donating more to charity, which is a great feeling!!

Another benefit to Sobriety!! :)

I have donated my money! And I am filling out the proper paperwork to volunteer at the facility.

Worked out well!!!! That is only the tip of the iceberg.
Because of your one supportive statement, I will now be volunteering for this group. I used to help animals 15-20 years ago before drugs and alcohol took over my life. After visiting this animal rehab I thought, didn't I want to do something in this field since I was little? Didn't I want to stay close to nature and animals? I spent the last 15-20 years as an electrician, who came home and deserved her nightly buzz.
The first Sunday in November I have already signed up for and paid for my CPR/first aid class. I am studying and preparing to take the state civil service exam (I was lucky to have no criminal drunken "yets") and I will be applying for the park ranger position, which is seasonal but will help pay for schooling in between so I can go for a degree and become a naturalist. One thing keeps leading to another on this.
I was in such a fog when I first went to the wildlife center. I didn't know what to do with myself. I sat there and cried at the bald eagle. I made it 2 weeks and fell hard off the wagon. And I, of course, cried my eyes out. I felt bad for the birds who weren't going to get their donation cuz I messed up.
It was a minor setback and I'm back on day 9. And I thank YOU for grabbing my shoulders, pointing me the right way and yelling "go!"
I truly appreciate all the wonderful support all of you provide. Maverick, you nailed it for me.
((Cyber hugs)) and a huge thanks.

IN 15 days sober I have saved $135.

Nice job jryan!!

That was just the dollar I would have put in for a tip each day! Unfortunately, I work in a bar and get free drinks. Enable the beast, that's all that did.
