Undermined by friend
Every friend I told I was an alcoholic all seemed to give the same silent nod like they all already knew. And these people didn't know about the insane binges I went on alone in my apartment. I was at the point where it was impossible to ignore.
I wouldn't write her off as the bad guy right away. Maybe give her a bit of time to wrap her head around the conversation you two had. Time will tell if she will remain in the true friend category. I am hoping for you that is the case. Hang in there!
People without a problem can find it difficult to understand, and rightly so, sometimes we don't even know our own alcoholic mind, never mind expect others to understand if they can drink normally without issue!!
Hang in there!!

Hi Artfriend,
I'm really sorry to hear that your friend reacted that way. I know that my mate has found that for some of his friendships, they are better now that his drinking isn't getting in the way, and for others it's a case of drinking being the only thing that held then together... One such friend asked him "is your life boring now you're not drinking?"
All the best and congratulations!
