1st post from a drinker
I guess I should give some background info on me, I am in my 30's and worked for Wonderbread for about ten years until they shut down. After that I decided to go back to school to become a med lab tech.
I am really struggling with the school, family, drinking thing. I have recently tried stopping drinking, it works out during the week and I feel so much better, but I have no idea why I continue to drink on the weekend.
I am really bad at managing my time, it's pretty clear the time I spend drinking, should be spend studying. I do good in school but it's starting to become clear to me that I shouldn't have the worries that I have.
When I recently tried to stop drinking, I made an effort to write down some thoughts. That seemed to help me but I got away from it. Which brings me here. I post on the occasional message board, so it seemed like common sense to search out a board like this.
I just want to get improve myself and I hope sharing my thoughts on this board is a step in the right direction.

Welcome peacefrog! Keep reading and posting questions or thoughts. Through your process and searching, you will most likely discover your motivations for drinking and decide if now is the time for you to quit for good. I wish you the best on your journey and we are here for you
Welcome to SR. I wish you well in your recovery.
Use whatever outlets you feel are useful to YOU. I'm more of an introverted lone wolf person in real life. I am going to AA meetings but i have trouble connecting with our folks in real life.
SR for whatever reason fits my personality perfectly. I can be open and honest about my struggles with drinking. My successes when they do happen and the falls when they happen as well.
Everyone here wants to help you to stop drinking. How we get there is a choice. Ultimately it's a choice WE need to make.
I chose to not drink today. I chose to ask for Gods help to get through the day.

Glad to see you found this site peacefrog. With all that you have going on with your education etc. it sure looks like you are one to invest in a better future. When you look at that future, compare how it plays out on the sober path or the drinking path. Im thinking sober is the way to go. You can do it.
Welcome peacefrog! THis is a great place to start & maintain your recovery. Sounds like you're admitting you have an "issue" that's the first step. Remember this is for YOU...then the rest falls into place!
