good friend being your sponser?

so i have a good friend that struggled for years to get sober but now he has 2.5 years....what do you think about a close friend being your sponser....what are the pros and cons?

I have never been to AA but I think that if I was seeking a sponsor I would want someone with experience and impartiality.

Not a bad idea but you might want to expand your world a bit more. A friend and someone else as a sponsor will give you two solid contacts in recovery.
