Just beginning

I realized that I was drinking more and more then a month ago drank so much that I had a black out. I have been sober a month and want to stay that way. I have gone to a few AA meetings but have not developed a comfort level with the format. I am committed to staying sober.

Hi Texarkana, I am new here too, six days, and have found it to be very helpful. It's intersting to note participant's locations and see that folks all over this world share this burden. Glad you're here.

Congrats on the One month sober. It proves you CAN do this!

I can understand your statement about the AA meetings...I go to them as well (just got back from a brand new one i've never been to) but find it difficult to open up and talk to others.

I seem to have a much easier time of it here on SR. But i think a mix of both keeps you in touch with how severe this can be.

I had a month like you...Stopped coming to SR for about a week and a bit...And was sporadic with my AA meetings that week. (Only went to One.)

Got angry over something...thought i'd drink over it...(After all i was OK for 30 days...) And that led me to a blackout drunk and waking in the hospital.

Keep yourself connected. Or as my sponsor has told me. Keep close to the solution (SR & AA seems to keep me sober. But i need to STAY CLOSE!)

I wish you well!

Admitting we have a drinking problem,
Accepting that fact with no and, if or
buts about our addiction, then Committing
ourselves to a program of recovery to
teach us, fellowship for support, Faith
in Something or Some One greater than
us for strength and protection is a good
start to begin a journey in recovery
to continue on in life to achieve happiness,
health, honesty for a many more yrs. to
come and enjoy sober.

Welcome to SR.

Congratulations on a month's sobriety.

It can take a good while to settle in AA,I hope you start to feel more comfortable in the meetings.
