so i can only speak for early sobriety...i have little over 3 months in recovery but the farther i get in recovery the more paranoia i feel...i think people are plotting against me or people are mad at me....i do ask my dad who i trust and he always says its not real and i tend to believe him and my symptoms will be temporarily relieve.....but they always come back....anyone else experience this? i am recovering from cocaine and methadone
i should add that i am on anti-psychotics and anti-depressants...40 mg's of prozac and 20 of olazapine(zyprexa)

Hello, I think you should talk to your doc about this to see what they think. 'Cos you're on a lot of different meds for different stuff, etc. Hope you're ok.
I definitely think you should talk to your dr and explain how you feel. There could be a different medication that would work better for you.
Congratulations on your 3 months sober.

My main drug of choice was alcohol, but in my 20's, I used a lot of cocaine to go with it. I would got on an all weekend binges with coke and booze. I never could keep up the coke for long periods of use because of the paranoia it brought on. I would go into work on a Monday morning after a weekend binge, barely slept, and just be terrified that everyone knew what I was up to and that I was being fired that day. I would be convinced that the police were coming to arrest me anytime I heard noise in the hallway of my building. The list goes on.
Cocaine will definitely make you paranoid. The good news: your thoughts aren't real. Coke can seriously f*** you up mentally. I haven't touched it for over 10 years now, but I do remember it taking a while before I felt normal and didn't think the police were following me.
Stay sober and the paranoia will pass. Listen to your dad. It's all in your head, nothing to worry about.

i have told the doc but it's just so hard to explain what im feeling...the last time i mentioned it she upped my prozac and olanzapine....it seemed to help a bit....but i just figured id ask because looking back this happens every time i try and get sober...mental illness rears its ugly head...so it seems my drug use kind of surpresses it but it comes back the instant im not numbed by drugs ....

I experienced that when I detoxed from benzodiazepines. It was worse at night.
Benzodiapones are a tough detox.
Coming off cocaine didn't do that to me nor alcohol or pot.
The paranoia did last about 6 months and then tapered off.
It was worth it. I was heading in a bad direction with the benzodiazepines where there was going to be no return
They were starting to work against me
I came off them in a psych ward over 14 days, it was rough
I've never gone back to them I don't care what any doctor suggests.
Once in the Big Book i dealt with the rest of my fear.
