My dog woke me up today barking insanely at the door. I got up earlier than I wanted since it's difficult for me to sleep once my mind gets going but I'm so thankful im sober. I just might get some stuff done today. Or maybe I'll watch football and eat bbq all day. One thing I know is I will not be drinking. Have a good day.
Great reminder! I always had that same thought when I was still drinking and felt terrible in the morning. I'd look around with amazement:
Nobody at work is hungover! Except me!
Thank god those days are over. I can spot a hangover from 100 paces now. People who are not hung over look happy and alive. They look engaged with life. They look comfortable in their own skin. The best part of sobriety is waking up in the morning and feeling normal.
That's not to say I get out of bed and do cartwheels but I do get up feeling calm, centered, and ready for a normal day. I had forgotten how wonderful a normal day is.
