I'm back, again
I'm back, again
It seems I never learn. I'm coming out of three months of drinking all day, every day, constantly. I did things I never imagined I could ever do. I'm trying to taper off, which is hard because obviously if you give me an inch I'll take a mile. Doing okay today. I have to get this under control. I have a substance abuse therapist who keeps pushing AA, but I just can't bear the exposure of those meetings. I want to keep hiding. I don't know what I'm going to do. I have to do something.
Welcome back,
In my experience, tapering never works for an alcoholic. The best thing to do is to talk to your dr, stop drinking and start recovering. I think it can help to drag your issues out into the light. If AA is not for you, do you have another plan in mind for your recovery?

Welcome back, Briar. Does your therapist have any alternatives to AA? Even if it would helpful, it doesn't seem like it could do too much if you're not willing to go. Hang in there. Posting here has helped me somewhat.
As far as coming up with a plan, start simple. How about "I will not drink today"? Or "I will try an AA meeting today". You have zero to lose with either of those and everything to gain.
Tapering is not a plan. It very rarely works, and it is merely postponing the inevitable ( quitting ).
If you think you can't do it on your own, seriously consider rehab.
Consider this though...if all you have been doing is drinking all day, every day, for a month...that means you have time and the resources to work on NOT drinking every day. SR is a great place to find out how.

I hope you get to an AA meeting, the alternative dosen't bear thinking about. Not many Alcoholics can stop drinking without the support of others. You will not be exposed to anything. If you don't seek out more help your Alcoholism will get worse.
Ay the end of my drinking I was willing to do anything, to get and stay sober.

The decision to stop drinking sometimes leads to crazy binge drinking. Your Alcoholic Voice begins to speak up, and without any tools to deal with it, the amount you consume goes haywire.

Hi Dee, thanks for the invite, but I feel overwhelmed by the idea of being part of anything right now. I just want to huddle in a dark corner. I don't even want to listen to positive encouragement because I don't believe it. To give you an idea of how I feel, if this were an in person group, I would be locked in the bathroom weeping. I know I need to be here, but I just want to hide.
