Freaky ear worm

I hope this is not what I will have to go through in sobriety. I cannot get this really old tune out of my head. It's "I'm Getting Married in the Morning"

:wtf:

I had that in my first month of sobriety. Not just with songs, but many, seemingly random memories that kept coming back in my mind at really strange times. It did drive me a bit crazy at times and that was the time when I took up meditation ~daily as an aid to calm myself down. I think it's our brains adjusting and it's transient.

Just don't listen to your ear worm in marital decisions :)

Hi, I am trying to catch up on posts. So what is this worm thing?

How is your recovery doing?

Thanks! I thought I was losing it.

I told my ear worm to get lost. Like you said he/she/it doesn't need to manage my love life. LOL

They were a feckin nightmare but there is a way to stop them!!!!! You have to sing the British National Anthem in your head!! Don't laugh LOL It really works, scientifically proven.. I used to get terrible ear worms when I was drinking & in withdrawal & this was the only thing that worked!!

Ear worms must be an american expression? Never heard of it in the uk. Seriously did think of little wriggly worm in somebodys ear. You learn something new every day! :)

Thanks a lot! Now I'm gonna be hearing that. I remember the Mad Magazine version of this song in parody...

Short and fat and bald and ugly
The guy from Jersey City goes walkin'
And when my girl sees him she goes "aaaaahhhhh"

Strings of pearls and diamond bracelets
And coats of mink is what he gives her
And now I know just why my girl she goes "aaaaahhhhh"

True, he looks dumpy and funny
Still she does not seem to mind it
She loves the looks of his money

But, one day she'll come back to me
And she'll love me cuz I will be
Short and fat and bald and ugly

and then she'll love me...though I'm 83
