Lol... I just remembered something I used to do. And I wonder if it's a common alcoholic thing to do. Particularly for us "classy" lady wine drinkers.... lol.

When I would go in the liquor store - particularly if I was buying just "a bottle" of wine for the evening so that I could look socially acceptable, or try to control my drinking that night, or whatever it was.... I would always study the alcohol percentages for the different kinds of wine. I would pretend I was carefully analyzing each bottle for details to suit my preferences - as if I was some sort of wine conisseur - but all I was really looking for was the highest percentage of alcohol in the bottle! Most bang for my buck right? Bahahaha.

I bet normal drinkers don't even think about looking for the alcohol % in their wine before they buy it.

It was the most important fact for this girl.

Hi Mrrryah. I always did it. Then when the wine wasn't enough, it was 100-proof vodka for me.
I can't believe I justified that behavior for so long.

I always checked the percentage too. Anything under 10 was a big no. lol

I'd usually go for 13.5.

It can make a huge difference. Once I was drinking some wine at a friend's house and I wasn't feeling it after the second glass. Then I looked at the bottle and it said 7%.

I actually felt cheated. Odd reaction.

Yeah I've been there...


But I quickly discovered that if I also bought vodka and chugged it before going wherever I was going - the percentage on the wine no longer mattered.

I never done that. I would choose by the price of the bottle i.e. if I could get 2 bottles I would.

I didn't do it a lot. I just bought what I liked. I did, however, keep a bottle of Everclear hidden in my hall closet to hit regularly if that tells you anything.

Oh yeah. But mine was with beer, naturally. I never went for special brew, even though I went for stuff just as high percentage. I can just imagine myself there, stood teetering over the drinks isle thinking "special brew, pah! I have some dignity!". Then buying something even worse with a name like "wizards brew" or something.

4% beer might as well have been wine gums, as far as I was concerned.

Mine was Natural Ice. Relatively cheap with enough alcohol percentage to do the job. I figured why pay 8 bucks for a six pack of "good" beer with a lower percentage when I can get twelve Naturals for the same price? I got so used to it expensive beer started tasting bad.
