Replacing alcohol with sweets

I've never been that into sweet stuff, but for some reason whenever I crave alcohol, there seems to be nothing better than a big pack of haribo.

Haven't a clue why. Just seems to work. Hey, I'm not arguing, I'll take a few cavities over a failing liver and a ruined life any day.

Anyone else have any weird drink replacement/cravings suppressors?

Tom.

Ice cream. OMG, in the first few days it totally saved me. Ben and Jerry's Phish Food, specifically. (Now these extra pounds...they are my next project!)

Alcohol is full of sugar, so you're replacing it.

Ditto on the ice cream for me. I'm almost two years sober so I'm now finding more balance with less cravings. I'm now in to dealing with the weight loss issues but I am so agreeing that a bowl of ice cream may be a better choice if it helps to stop from taking a drink! Anna so right about alcohol being high in sugar. Your blood sugar levels will balance out over time.

Chocolate and high power caffeine drinks.

I have four kids under 11, if I get one of those sobering up"no energy zombie " days.... I gotta find a way to push on through.

The world doesn't stop cause Hawks is getting sober. Lol

I like orange juice for the natural sugar in it. Also, I did make some chocolate chip cookies last night. Yum! Helps with the cravings too. A win, win.

I have also been dabbling in different sugar-sweetened sodas. Raspberry, black cherry and strawberry are all really good!

Replacing alcohol with sweets - guilty.

In the beginning, frozen dark M&Ms were my go to and I went constantly. The sweet cravings leveled off with time.

Chocolate, cookies, fully-sugared pop. Yep. I'm all about that these early days. Still, better than getting the sugar from chardonnay.

Cherry coke has replaced my wine, or vodka, of beer, or rum, or whiskey, or gin or everything I used to get my hands on. I only have 1 or 2. Still less calories...

All things dessert-oriented....yes, please! Once of the reasons I can be found at my gym for workouts five to six days a week.

CHOCOLATE ! ! Chocolate ice-cream, dark chocolate candy bars, chocolate ff/sf frozen yogurt, brownies, and dark chocolate-covered peanuts, raisins, almonds, and sunflower seeds all got me to Day 49!

It is starting to taper off a bit, but when my AV comes calling, I snuff it out with sweets. I keep the snack size bags of m&m's, small Mounds and peanut butter cups in my car trunk.

P.S. I have lost nine pounds since I stopped drinking alcohol, even with the sweets.

Love my sweets!!! Also diet 7-up with a touch of strawberry or raspberry syrup, found in the coffee isle. Love it.

It's the sugar that you've lost through not drinking alcohol anymore, the body is craving a substitute!!
