3 am here as well just got home from work.. I think you should go ahead and pour out the wine, you and I both know it's going to ruin your morning.

Yeah. Good idea. If it's open it will end up in my mouth.

The wine won't help Trez.

Has the insomnia been going on for a while?

Sometimes. Just poured the wine out. Wife is going to be irritated about that. Close to 4am now here in DC.

Still up. Wine gone. I'm watching an old Redskins game. Twitching a little.

I think its better to make an appointment with your Dr about your insomnia. The more you drink to self medicate the harder you'll find it to achieve a natural sleep.

As far as that bottle of scotch goes, you're addiction would love that cos you'd never make the meeting.

what about putting some coffee on, having a shower? or failing that setting your alarm and lying down a little?

we can give you all the advice in the world but I think it's your best interests to get up off the couch?

Gym opens at 5:00am - I'm sure DC has one, a walk/run on the treadmill will clear your mind. The high you get from a good (non hungover) workout is way better then any glass of wine!

Glad you got rid of the wine. Hope you stayed away from the scotch! I'm having major problems sleeping too it's so frustrating. I use hypno cds (for various things - stress, sleep, confidence) and they all get me to sleep but the problem for me is staying asleep. Good luck for your meeting

1:46am here and yep I'm usually up late.

Also if you are tempted by wine scotch etc.. don't keep it in the house or anywhere really, if you're goal is to not drink.

edit: I read the comment about your wife will be irritated you poured the wine. Thing is if she drinks it isn't fair to pour out wine lol, maybe just have her keep it somewhere only she knows so you will not be tempted. You can't keep pouring it out and you don't want to drink it so you need a solution. Is the scotch hers as well?

Lots of things go together, and lots of things don't go together. Insomnia and alcohol don't mix at all.

Fought insomnia for 12 years, mostly slept 2 to 3 hours a night for that period, sometime I would not sleep more than an hour a night for a couple of weeks at a time.

Found out in my case it was stress and anxiety related. I would compound it with drinking when I was too amped up rom not sleeping, so I would want to pass out. then I was tired, hungover, and riddled with anxiety.

IRT pouring out the booze: Whether you put it down the drain or your throat, the bottle still gets empty, and one of them options does not hurt you physically or mentally. You have still paid for the booze, your wont get your money back, but you will feel better with the pouring it down the drain.

Doctors help with sleep problems, but be careful with Benzo's, if you get hooked on those, at least in my experience it is even more difficult to get clean than alcohol. They mess with you central nervous system and are extremely difficult to get off of.

Good luck with the sleep, it does come with a lot of changes, and it is a difficult road, but a road with taking.

I'm the king of insomnia. I'm having less trouble sleeping now that I'm 4 weeks into sobriety. I still sleep lightly (mainly because of a hyperactive cat!) but I think the quality of sleep is getting better.

I'm now drinking "Sleepy Time Extra" herbal tea at night, about 1/2 hour before going to bed. It's actually helping!

Hi Trez

Looking at your past posts I couldn't help but notice you tend to post here when you're in trouble, but not too much otherwise.

Maybe making use of the community here when you're not in trouble might help?

I suffer insomnia

i do all i can by trying to tire my body out i normally clean the garden once a week but this afternoon after looking for work and doing housework i thought im going to clean the garden like never before and i did it looks a picture and it brings me a serenity just to see over a half moon and a good few stars on a clear early autum night (Proper wolf weather lol)

am i tired......No im not lol but point is im trying to do things about it and i will get tired earlier than normal because of it

theres a lot contributing to my insomnia at the moment even tho im sober

but even still the other night i nearly got an 8h sleep for the first time in easily over a decade i put that down to SR even my nightmares aren't as regular

I refuse sleeping pills
