Day 14 Check In

Today is Day 14. I can't believe it's been 2 weeks since I had my last drink, but at the same time, it feels like it was months ago. The first few days were very rough in terms of cravings, as my entire afternoon/evening routine had become entirely about alcohol. As soon as I got home, I would have "one drink" of wine that quickly became lots of drinks, and a pattern of hiding both my drinking and my inability to fully function at home. Overall, I am doing much better even though I am still VERY tired and irritable. I can't tell if I'm irritable because of physical withdrawals, because I want to drink and can't, or both.

Targets/reasons for my irritability include, but are not limited to:
My husband
My kids
My computer
My hair dryer, dishwasher, car, phone, etc.
Loud talking
Mumbling
Idiot drivers
The laughter of children
ETC.

Basically, this is what I look like most of the time:

However, I have great moments, too. It is absolutely amazing to go to bed sober. My mental clarity and focus are starting to improve. The guilt and shame of drinking is definitely lifting!

How is everyone else doing?
JoSharon

Things will keep getting and better, josharon. Early days and weeks can be rough.

Loved your list; brought back memories.

Your hairdryer?? Sorry, I chuckled a bit .

Minivans would irritate me. They still do. Especially speeding minivans.

Congrats on 2 weeks!
