wouldn't you just hate to be famous and have everything you ever do wrong plastered all over the papers and news
can you imagine having guilt and shame and no where to hide after a night out drinking and whatever you did wrong everyone knew about it ?
how lucky are many of us who did things wrong in drink and were able to keep people from knowing about it

because addiction is not smart.... addiction is selfish.... addiction doesn't give a crap about being careful, planning ahead, looking out for others... or even Self.
Addiction just cares about addiction. And convenience in pursuing addiction.

Alcohol and drugs have been getting Phelps into trouble for years. He's very wealthy and has obviously achieved a ton of personal success in spite of it, which doesn't help. I'm not sure an arrest like this will force him to examine his relationship to alcohol, because the consequences are minimal for him. Although he may feel differently inside, if he is drinking enough, I doubt he's happy (even with all the success)
