Starting Over Again!

Well I failed again at getting sober, same old story. I am really tired of starting over, I need to re-write my story and make this be the last time I have to start over. Why is it so hard to say no to something that makes me so unhappy!! It is also hurting my kids, one of my children begs me to quit drinking. Poor child has seen me in a black out state saying and acting in a way that is very confusing and scary. I really need help!

It's so hard to say no because we are addicted. If it were a simple matter of willpower alone, most of us wouldn't be here. What support do you have? What have you tried?

For me, I entered inpatient treatment and kept going to AA meetings, supplemented by coming on here. I needed the inpatient treatment to get me out of the mindset of drinking and away from the alcohol for a period of time.

Keep coming back. Keep reading. Keep trying.

My addictive mind was no match for my willpower or simple resistance to drinking!!

Are you doing this on your own strength? maybe more support is needed, regular SR checkins, meetings etc!!

Nothing changes if nothing changes, we need to change up our plan and try something new to produce new results!!

You can do this!!

Hi Purpleknight,

I am not sure 100% what I am going to do this time, I am starting here with SR and going to get more involved with volunteer work, different things to keep me busy. AA is not for me, not sure what else there is out there but hopefully I will somehow find what I need. I am not super religious but I have started going to a church I enjoy, the pastor is really great. I plan on getting more involved with the church, maybe something good will come out of that? Who knows

happyfree2525 a lot of of churches have recovery groups similar to AA - celebrate recovery is the name of one of the groups.
