Determined

This is my second attempt to get(and stay) sober 100% of the time. I'm determined not to mess up this time, drink has taken over most of my life and I hate what I've become.-a drunk! I'm going to live in hope that I CAN conquer my addiction this this time. I have too.

Great attitude! Congratulations on your decision. It is possible to get and stay sober, just look at all the great people here who have done it. I am right there with you, we can do this!

Thank you, I've got to now-I can't live like this any more. I can't believe it's got this bad! Thanks for the support.

I have made so many attempts to stop drinking over the past couple of years, this time I'm on day 8 and feel supported by SR and also my husband. Had a wobble yesterday but got through it. You can do it! Do you have support from family or friends? :)

Soberwolf 09-27-2014 02:45 AM

You can all do this well done

FreeOwl 09-27-2014 02:51 AM

welcome.

you can!

You can make it happen, are you getting enough support?

If sheer willpower isn't working, it might to time to include a few more tools in the toolbox!! :)

I've got the support of some tee total friends, trying to avoid spending time with family in the evening as they drink even more than me. Trying to spend time/do things with friends that don't drink so I remember it's not normal to get drunk every night:-)

Welcome Looking! I felt disgusted with myself too when I found SR. The people here helped me get back on my feet and stay sober. You're never alone, and that means so much. You can do this.

Hi, Hevyn and Dee I was thinking of going to a support group on Wednesday. Also I'm thinking of going to the gym as a stress buster to replace drinking. I nearly went to an AA meeting the other day but that felt too full on for me, I think the smaller local support group will be more effective for me:-). Any other ideas proved useful I can try?:-)

It has taken me several attempts to get sober. I always would relapse around the 6 month mark. Last December was the last drink I had so this attempt has been on track so far. I have to be vigilant at all times because it is always a random event that can set me off.

I attended AA on and off, but not could never really connect with a group enough to keep going back. I see a therapist weekly and have this site always up when I am at home and relaxing. My doctor happens to be an alcoholic and sober for over 25 years so he also helps.
