Day one here we go!
Did you work out what it was that made you drink last night? You can do this!! I have had countless day 1s in the past but am now on day 8 and somehow it feels different this time. I think before I didn't really want to stop to be honest. Have you got a plan for tonight?
If I keep drinking then I may not see my birthday next year! Does that explain? What do you find confusing? I stopped drinking then I started again, now I am stopping again.

I've since looked back over your previous posts and see you've tried a few times to stop.
So, are you really worried you won't make your 36th birthday? Do you really want to stop now? I'm missing the point of starting a thread saying you are scared and you are stopping, I guess.

I can understand how you can say you might it to your 36th birthday if you keep drinking, but then go back to drinking. There have been times when I wake up and tell myself I am not going to drink today, but while I am saying this, I am getting dressed to go to the liquor store. Only an alcoholic can understand this kind of thinking. It just makes no sense. For me, I had to be somewhere else where I couldn't act on those thoughts.
Just remember, you are in the battle of your life. You need to win, no matter what!! John

I mean really wanting to. It's awful and painful to keep beating yourself up if you aren't ready to stop or don't have enough tools to give it a good shot.
Drinking the very next day may mean there's not enough support and tools for Buggirl to stop....see where I'm going with this?
Obviously it's possible, or no one would get sober.

I agree, I can understand the thinking, I've been there. But I asked the question is she really wanting to stop now?
