day 3 without the wine

So this is my second post, and my third day of knowing that I will never have a drink again, although I would never usually drink on a Tuesday afternoon knowing I can't makes alcohol the only thing on my mind!

The first thing I did this morning was look at this site and have kept logging in throughout the day, it is a massive support. I intend to go and buy a book this afternoon to help focus my mind, not a self help book but maybe something autobiographical. Any suggestions for a freaked out housewife?

It isn't that you can't drink. You have chosen to live a sober life. How fantastic is that?

Pretty darn fantastic!

Good for you!!

I read, "Mommy Doesn't Drink Here Anymore, Getting through the first year of sobriety." A very good memoir.

Congrats again, and keep on going

I think the best book, and often mentioned here, is "Drinking: A Love Story" by Caroline Knapp.

Please check out our book list in the stickies at the top of the Newcomers forum.

Congratulations Marina1981! Today is my second day (also a wine lover) and I am feeling pretty good about myself! I love this site for the support. I have been visiting for months and finally decided to join because I know I need help from others like me. Welcome to the group!

I have to 2nd this.
I loved this book SO much, I am re-reading it again right now. My mom bought it for me a few months ago when I stopped drinking. I read it then, but with just over 4months now, I'm pulling different things out of it. She is SUCH an amazing writer, her words are bang on. This book will be a staple for me, I see myself reading it again and again...and each time, getting something new out of it.
As a wine lover (former)...you'll appreciate this. Trust me.

I read "Drinking, a Love Story" but I think I need to reread it because I may or may not have been drinking when I read it. ;-)

I wasn't drinking when I read it the first time, but it was still early in my sobriety and it was triggering me slightly, so I kept putting it down.
This time, I'm able to actually read it without a million scattered thoughts about "mmmmmmmmm wine" ....read it again

This is a true story and a very good read.

Loved "Drinking: A Love Story". Great book. I also got something out of "The Sober Revolution: Women's Wine O'Clock" as it was quite relateable to my own "wine habit" (aka: wine addiction).
