I have been reading everyone's post on this site for over a month now and decided to do the same because I am in need of support. I have been having some health issues and yesterday I had an appointment with my doc. Apparently, my drinking and using made me have a heart condition. This is affecting my life because of the choices I have made but I can't stop myself from thinking that using or drinking would help me at least for today.

Welcome to the posting side of things.
I'm sorry about your heart condition. Drinking today would only make things worst. An hour or 2 of "relief" is not worth the guilt, shame, and additional health problems. Dealing with the fall outs from our Addiction is very hard, we understand. But at the end of the day, changing the present to increase our chances of a happy and healthy future is the only way to go.
Stay strong

Glad you are sharing your struggle....if you have been reading on this site you've probably read that drinking doesn't really have a way of making a situation better but actually worse. I got honest with my doc about my drinking and found it actually helped me stay sober to know if I drank it would make my condition worse....stay strong!
Hi recovering maggy, welcome.
If you really want to stop you've come to the right place. I've had do much help and support from my friends here at SR, my second family.
Join us, don't put your health at risk. Speak to your doc. He will tell you of the effects of alcohol on our bodies and organs.

Hi,
Glad you are sharing your everyone, i felt this helped me and through a lot of the forum it helped me calm down and realise that we can't keep doing what we are doing as there is only 1 way it will end.
I hope your heart problems get sorted and with time and healing your body and heart may repair itself.
Tambdy
p.s welcome to the forum

Glad to see you here--your health is so important!! I know it's scary to see how alcohol can affect your body, but your body wants to be in balance. I know the longer we stay off the booze, The more positive the outcome.
Good idea to be upfront with the doctor. I know I've lied most of the time to mine
