It's tempting to drink when we're upset, to blot things out, but it doesn't help. You'll need your sober wits about you, as you face this situation, so I'm hoping you'll decide to not drink.

The thing to do is to get right back up on that horse and stay sober.

I hope you got the wrong end of the stick about your job, but whatever happens it really is better for you to be sober toni

Toni, that is a rotten thing that your boss is doing. And, I'm sorry that you started drinking yesterday, but you've had two good months and you can get back on it again.

It's tough, especially when jobs, office politics and all that get in the way, it drives me insane sometimes!!

The learning from this though is there is always going to be ups and downs in life, and we can't keep reaching for alcohol when life throws us a few curve balls, we need new tools in the toolbox to deal with life, it can be done, but don't beat yourself up, it's gonna take time to build up a few Sober muscles!!

Go for it again, it's in the past!!

dump them. You know they'll do you no good.

Make a definitive statement in support of the way you want to live your life

tonib, today is a very good day to start sobriety again. And being sober, even with some negative issues to deal with, is MUCH BETTER than drinking.
Best wishes to you.

tonib, sorry to hear your troubles. but as already said, drinking will not help.

get back on that wagon and fasten your seat belt so those little bumps don't throw you off.

Try to learn from this experience. How do you feel? Did the drinking and smoking make things better, or did it make you feel worse? I used to keep a journal so I could write down how I felt before, during and after drinking, otherwise self-reflection is simply lost and it's real easy to spin your wheels. Having a hardcopy record of the dismal trip of alcohol helped me crystallize my resolve to quit.

Good luck

a friend of mine uses that term. Asks me "you still on the wagon"?

I say "nope.... not on the wagon. Just not a drinker."

I think when we visualize sobriety as being 'on the wagon' we see it as something temporary and instable. Something we can 'fall off' of.

I'm sorry you find yourself staring down the gaping black maw of a relapse. That sucks and I know how it feels.

Time to move forward though. One step, one day at a time.

Forget about 'the wagon'..... instead, put one foot in front of the other and WALK.

Don't ride a wagon, travel down a different path, on your own two feet.

I'm so happy you dumped it out! Dust yourself off and try again! Have a backup plan for your job. Keep your brain busy by prettying up your resume. Maybe this isn't a bad thing. Maybe you have something even better in your future!
