Day 1: "Danger Zone" 4-9
 

I've been gradually scaling back on drinking for the past week, and taking steps to stop completely: I got a temporary online sponsor, have been posting a lot here, bought the Big Book and started to read it, went to the parking lot of a meeting (next time I'll try to go in) and have been praying to my Higher Power. The last time I tried to quit, I did it cold turkey and didn't really buy into AA, especially the spiritual element. This time, I want to do everything differently.

Now I have respect for the truly progressive nature of this disease. It got so bad, so fast and even though I've recovered from my last bad drunk, I am serious about stopping.

So today is Day 1. Normally I would drink from 4 until around 9, when I would pass out. Right now I am sitting on my screened porch with my kids and a Diet Coke. If I can make it a few more hours, I'm good. Thanks to everyone for your support, it is helping me SO much. Wish me luck, I'll need it. :-)
