Thanks. Yeah, it's a big enough place something should come up soon. I'm normallt pretty active when I'm not drunk, hung over or feeling sorry for myself! Going to go walking this weekend, and have a wonder round town today.

Yep, done both before . I also like High Bradfield and the reservoirs up that end.

Yeah, they're nice spots as well. True, it's not too bad having the Peak District etc. on the doorstep is it?

You said that there was an AA group that meets within walking distance of your home, have you checked it out yet?

No, I'm still reluctant to go...I know it's there and I'll see how I go. I'm not ruling it out, just not at all convinced it's for me. To be honest, I don't understand it; if people go to AA, fall off the wagon and return again and again and again, what's the difference between doing that and me doing it by myself? I know ruling something out that *could* help is a risk, but I'm not comfortable with the idea of AA at all.

I tried staying sober by myself, and it didn't work. Some people, like me, go to AA and stay sober.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it doesn't work for everyone, it obviously does, but it's not for everyone. Neither is doing it on your own. I just think personally, it's down to willpower with me and I'm not sure how AA will help with that (I know Scott is gonna say I'll have to go to find out!).

I think that AVRT very well describes the concept of doing it yourself. I strongly suggest the "AVRT Crash Course;" at the end, there is an oath to never go to an AA meeting...
