Interesting Last night was the first night in years that I did not have any alcohol. I thought I would be pacing the floors, chewing on my toenails, hiding under the bed, etc. but I was extremely calm... almost eerie calm. I sat with a glass of milk watching The Roosevelts on PBS and went to bed early. Any thoughts from people who have gone thru this? Is this normal or ??? |
Hi SadieJack, I don't know if there is a normal for people like me who drank a lot. Your response is your response to not drinking day one. I don't know how much you were drinking, so watch out for withdrawal symptoms. It can be very dangerous. Consult a with a doctor if you have any symptoms at all. Congrats on day 1. Yes? |
I am happy for you that it went so well. I found the first month to be fairly difficult - like I was recovering from the years of poisoning. Be prepared for the maybe-not-so-calm waters ahead. I thought I'd be fine too. Not so much. |
If you drink every day, quitting is a very major change. It can actually take up to 24 hours for your body to even start comrehending that you've quit. For me withdrawals always got much worse around day 3 or 4, but everyone is different. Congrats on the decision, you won't regret it - and be safe, see a doc if things get too bad. |
Thanks for the info. I am preparing myself for rough water ahead. I cannot see how this can be anything but that. Glad I have the forum to "talk to" |
It's different for everyone, but I know what you mean, some days early on seemed almost too easy, but the there would be the tougher times!! Keep it going!! :) |
I drank a lot for a long time.... But I never really had noticeable or traditional withdrawal. The impact for me was more gradual and drawn out. Take it one day at a time and keep at it! Congrats! |
Congrats on day one. I'm really glad it went well SadieJack :) D |
well done on day 1 |
I'm glad you're doing well, Sadie. |
