Alternative beverages thread
There must be a few of these on the board already, but I thought I'd start one for the new people here.
I'm a bit of a foodie, so I like inventing recipes. I recently discovered that Chai tea mixed with dark hot chocolate mix and milk is TO DIE FOR.
I also had another idea this morning. I just scored a blender at a garage sale, so I'm going to try coconut water (high in potassium and electrolytes), and watermelon (high in vitamin C and a natural way to reduce water retention). Plus, I think it's going to be freakin delicious.
Anyone else found a new favorite drink?

My go to drink all day is cucumber/mint water. This needs to be done ahead night before. 1-2 whole English cucumber sliced thin couple handfuls fresh mint gallon of water. It's sooooo refreshing and if you have an issues with inflammation it's very anti inflammatory.
Once you drink all the water the cucumbers are super crispy and a great snack.

Substances in fresh cucumber extracts help scavenge free radicals, help improve antioxidant status, inhibit the activity of pro-inflammatory enzymes like cyclo-oxygenase 2 (COX-2), and prevent overproduction of nitric oxide in situations where it could pose health risks. It's highly likely that cucumber phytonutrients play a key role in providing these antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits, supporting health alongside of the conventional antioxidant nutrients—including vitamin C, beta-carotene, and manganese—of which cucumbers are an important source.
Anyway as someone who often suffers chronic inflammation this has been the best route I've found to avoid steroids.

I don't think there really are any "alternatives", once your brain has been spoiled with alcohol it will be wise to any "alternatives" you try.
That said, i think the things which come close (at least for the fizzy-ness part) include:
- Coca Cola (fresh from the bottle/can)
- Apple/grape/cherry ciders (non alcoholic)
- Mexican carbonated juices
- Ginger ale as mentioned above
- Sparkling water
- Raspberry limeade
- Root beer
With regards to the euphoria/buzz part (the reason most people drink in the first place), there really isn't a substitute unfortunately.......

- Tea, all kinds and litres of it every day (favourites: English Breakfast, Rooibos with Lemon peel, Rooibos with Raspberry, Mint/Camomille/Herb mixes, Red Fruit)
- Any juice mixed with sparkling water (favourites: apple, oj, black current)
- Any fruit thrown into my juicer
- Virgin Marys
Avice, your Chai-Chocolate Mix sounds to die for! *drewl*

here's one for ya that I'm enjoying as I type this and which is FANTABULOUS;
1.5 cups fresh-picked wild michigan blueberries (preferably picked by hand with one's daughters)
2 cups milk
2 scoops high-quality wheybolic protein powder
1 banana
1 handful ice cubes
blend and enjoy
consume within 35 minutes of a hard, intense gym session involving max-weight resistance exercises.
Antioxidant properties
Nourishing
Builds you up (instead of tearing you down - like booze does)
Refreshing
Tasty
Uplifting
Healthy

The one you mentioned above reminds of their Regent's Park tea. Green tea with Papaya Pieces, Pineapple pieces, Strawberries, Raspberries and Rose Petals. SOOO GOOOOD!
