I have been taking Ativan for over seven years. I am trying to stop taking it. What would be the best way to do it? I know not to just stop. I was usually taking 1 mg per day in the evening. Sometimes under stress I would take 2 but not too often. From everything I have read about it, it's horrible withdrawl. For the past 2 nights I have taken only half a pill. That seems ok so far.


Has anyone used this and can give advice??? Thank You.

Recovering Benzo addict here. I'm still doing my taper down from Klonopin.

Ativan is a benzodiazepene. Detoxing off of them is very very very dangerous. It has to be done sloooooooow.

You must talk to your doctor about it, and be honest. Then do what he says.

Moot said it - get with your doc on it. And be totally honest with your feelings about it too. There's plenty of medical issues when getting off benzo's and your doc is the one to trust with those.

But we're here for all the mental and emotional support you need!

I will be seeing my doctor next Thursday and will talk about everything..... And follow his advice........... :sweat. My boyfriend told me the same thing and to be completely honest.......
