2 weeks today!
Hey chaps/chapettes
Just wanted a thread of my own to post updates of my progress in. Today marks 2 weeks sober. I've been round here for a while and struggled with a few months sober here, a few there. I tried AA and struck around the rooms for a few months, didn't really feel comfortable there. But something seems so different this time and I'm fully confident that I will never drink again.
No huge urges so far. I think the main revelation was reading about AVRT, I'm finding myself able to distinguish between my thoughts and the thoughts of the 'beast' in my head that wants alcohol and nothing more. It's a persuasive little beggar and it pipes up at the worst times, but I think I may finally be starting to see my drinking for what it actually is - a monumentally stupid waste of time, energy, money and self respect.
Long may this continue. I am sleeping and eating great, in fact I can't remember a time when I've been this content in a long while. Going to work without a hangover and being productive feels good!
