Over 10 Days without a drink

The symptoms haven't gone away but I am progressing. Mentally, I feel better than at any point since I stopped drinking over 10 days ago.
Moving forward; anyone in the same boat?

Hi I'm 10 days sober now and feeling so much better...sleeping really well and feel so much more able to cope with all the stresses and strains of life. Eating way too much chocolate though!

Well done. It's a slow process and I have been full of anxiety once again today (and hit the chocolate too!) but at least the anxiety is from facing up to problems rather than avoiding them.

Biggest issue for me was sleep, and very vivid dreams. Took about 3 weeks for that to end. But doesn't it feel great to wake up without a hangover. That was the most immediate positive I realized. Congratulations on 10 successful days sober. Those 10 days for me were unbelievably hard.

Congrats!

I'm on day 13 and feeling great. Everything feels different this time. I finally believe myself when I say I will not drink.

I struggled for a while in AA, then recently read rational recovery and was sold on it straight away. It's still early days but I'm feeling very positive.

I know Peace, I know. Not necessarily bad dreams, just really vivid ones, that would wake me up after just a few minutes sleep. Sometimes accompanied by a loud bang or shout that was not real. Or what I call Zombie Sleep. Not asleep, not awake, just a semi conscious state somewhere in between. Horrible.

And I have learned that if I relapse, even just a couple of drinks, for one day, they come back for a day or two. But it's a good thing. Keeps me from touching the stuff.

This time I am doing this rationally and sensibly, and without AA. I see AA works for some people but I think It was pulling me back to feeling like a failure and having a life sentence. I also had a strange experience with a couple of people in meetings that made me re-evaluate why I was going.

Excellent work on getting to the double digits! Today makes 2 weeks for me. Already feeling soooo much better about myself on all levels.

Stay vigilant over your thoughts...almost got derailed a few times during this 2 weeks...CBT worksheets are helpful for me in these spots.
