Why does it sting so much?...
Why does it sting so much?...
...every time I get a job rejection letter?
I wasn't even offered an interview, and I have done my share of interviews. All I got was this crappy e-mail: "thank you for your interest in working with us. Unfortunately you have not been shortlisted for interview".
I'm going out for a while. And possibly for a coffee and the biggest piece of cake I can find.
Happy Friday to all of you.

It can be be challenging not to take a rejection personally. The job market at times is a "numbers game" and you'll ultimately find something.
I don't know where you are in your search but I recently posted something on the August 2014 thread about transition strategies. Perhaps it can help.

Hi Tetra,
Fellow job seeker here ... I've been employed full-time (more than full time actually) at an executive level for about 20 years consistently. I was laid off this summer and find myself increasingly frustrated when I apply for positions I am more than qualified for and don't even get a note saying they received my materials.
My business requires lengthy and thoughtful cover letters, resumes and additional materials so applying for a position takes a good hour (and I am a quick writer) sometimes more. It's like writing a thesis actually.
I am confident that my perfect fit is coming ... but the waiting is frustrating. Hang in there and I will too! The good news is I have had no desire for drinking and above all else that is most important to me

Hey Tetra - hang in there.
I was uneployed for almost 7months last year (jan to end of june) and I know how hard it is. I added up all the resumes I had sent out and it was pushing 200. That included going to temp. agencies and all those places. I had 3 interviews out of those 200. Depressing? hell yes.
Then I did something different. I placed an ad on an online site we have here (kijiji) and my now boss was the only one who replied. I've been here since June 24, 2014 now. This is the employer I came clean to in May.
It will happen. Just don't give up. The right job is out there

Hang in there, Tetra. I hate job hunting, so I feel for you.
Like Turtle-man, said, though, it can take a lot of no's to get to yes. Make it your goal to get 100 no's before the end of the year. It's a funner perspective.
Enjoy that cake! You got this.

I don't know if you have such sites like the one I mentioned. (Kijiji)
I know a few people though that have either found a job on there, or like myself, posted an ad with all my skills/qualifications and had an employer contact them.
Just a different route to try out if you have such a resource to do so

I hope that Amy-Impurrfect sees this posting...she was unemployed for over a year before getting work. I'm sorry the going is so slow, but admire you that you keep plugging, looking and trying.
I do believe that you will get there soon. think outside the box...
i love coconut cake.
