Day 8. VIVID Drinking dream last night...:(
Day 8. VIVID Drinking dream last night...:(
So I've made it past week one. Today makes day 8...
Last night's sleep was plagued by a VERY VIVID drinking dream...Involving being in a city riding a subway with a blonde I've never met...Sharing a bottle of vodka as we roamed the city...
To say this shook me is an understatement...And i NEVER drank Vodka either! (Whiskey was always my vice...) I woke up and was convinced i had been drinking! Took me a minute to take a breath and realize it for what it was...
A dream...Nothing more.
I am NOT drinking today. A day at a time i am reclaiming my life.

I had the same experience last night. I had a dream that involved drinking and getting in legal trouble and all the people I didn't want to see again were there watching me as I was humiliated and shamed by the authorities. When I woke up I was terrified but it seemed so real. It seems as my body is detoxing toxins, so is my mind!! All this was probably in my sub conscience and is coming out.
Day 5 for me and I have not had any drinking dreams yet. Years ago I was in aa for 40 days and I did have the dreams. I learned in aa that it is a normal part of the process, I was so relieved to know that other people had these dreams too. I am kind of looking forward to having at least one of the dreams because I will feel like I am on the right path and the process is working.
Congrats on making it through Week 1! Toughest one for a lot of folks. Now, make it to week 2, and you'll really be rockin' it!
Good luck, and good job not drinking after a scary dream- some folks (I was guilty of it too) can't manage that.

Oh the blonde was there all right...Funny lately i've been thinking about alcohol/the AV as a succubus that will drain my soul.
Looks like she tried to manifest herself into my sub-conscious last night!
AWAY with you Demoness! YOU ARE NOT WELCOME! :uzi2:

Those early sobriety drinking/using dreams can be pretty unsettling.
Usually took me a few minutes after waking up to realize it was just a dream and that I'm still sober (mostly by realizing I'm not hungover)
Just posting to let you know we've all been there, but also gotta say I love your signature!
Best. Movie. Ever.
If you find yourself alone, riding in the green fields with the sun on your face, do not be troubled. For you are in Elysium, and you're already dead!

The vivid dreams can be unsettling - but that's all they are dreams.
I'm not a Freudian...I never thought of them as my subconscious resolve weakening or anything like that...more a reminder of how big a part alcohol played in my life.
They will fade, in time. Stick with it
