I just call it nonsense.

It is wretchedly hard to keep hold of the truth when part of your own brain is lying to you - and that is what addiction causes.

But Jess knows the truth. Posting here proves it.

You can live without alcohol.

Find your path.

Everyone here is right. Dump out AL that you have, right now, and stop today. Stop at this very moment.

Jess, you are here posting. Use the strength from your past sobriety and make the decision to stop drinking now.

The longer you let it go, the harder it is to break away from it.

You can do this...

You are stronger than your excuses!

You've got this, don't beat yourself up over your slip, all hope is not lost! I slipped up last night and have renewed my commitment to stopping as of today. We have all been there, and are here for you!

I sat on the fence last night not knowing if I was even ready to stop...with terrible thoughts going thru my head.."I can't live without it and I can't live with it".
This is a serious disease...but thank you to everyone here- I have 24 hours.Your words mean so much to me. It's a start.

24 hours is 1 day! You've conquered day ONE! Do it again!

I know those racing thoughts your describing...I'm 8 days sober now and they are subsiding. Don't drink and let them subside because they WILL!

Here's some good news....

I know several friends from around the tables whose current 20+ years of sobriety and life turnaround began with...

"I can't live without it and I can't live with it...."

Well done, 24hrs.

Now, let's knock down another 24.
