I said I'd stop drinking on Monday but decided to start tomorrow.

I'm now in a grotty late bar alone as I told my friend i was out with who doesn't drink I was tired and was going home. I was going home but knew this bar was on way home. Sohere I am.

tomorrow I need strength and decided to visit mums grave, clean it up and plant bulbs for next year. Alcohol killed her and I need to be reminded of that tomorrow. To help me focus on the dangers of alcohol.

I can do it. I will do it. It's in writing now. It's like a contract lol

Do you have a plan to stay sober? What about extra support, like from AA or counseling? Might help.

Welcome Jason I usually visit my mum at the graveyard too to get away from it all like Im going for advice or just to be near her

My mum didnt't get to see me get sober but I'm sure she's at peace knowing that I am

Really positive decision but like dee said its advisable to get a plan going dee is a great source of advice and is always availible for advice as is the rest of the forum I wish you well in everything you do from here on in

Congratulations on your decision to stop drinking, JasonNorth. Sometimes having the..umm.. Parts to face our ugly side is harder than some of the next steps.

Have a nice "visit" with your mom. Enjoy the activity of planting bulbs, beautifying her grave. Remember to see her in your heart as the person she was, not just her problem. Take comfort that you are making the decision to stop before it's too late.

You can do this. Make a plan, build your tool box, and you're off to the races

Thanks all. Great words. I'm afraid i failed my first day today though. I visited the grave and quite enjoyed the time. But ended up in the pub after.

Tomorrow is a new day and actually the day i planned to stop in the first place. I know words are cheap though. Tomorrow is time for action and not words.

It's my personal target. If i can't do this i know i need professional help

In the UK it's already 1st Sept. It was 30 minutes ago.

so now is the day for me.

i'm off to bed & yes i did drink today. even until the clock struck midnight. I watched it change with a beer in my hand at the last second. not celebrating, but drinking the last bit (terrible behavior).

pahh, tomorrow new rules!!!!
