Day 6......yipeeee
Okay so it's day 6.....
Even saying that seems strange..... 6 days with no drink.
6 days with no drink after almost a year and a half serious vodka binge.....
6 days with no drink after hundreds of hangovers and telling myself I needed to quit.
6 days with no drink after hundreds of times telling myself I couldn't stop.
6 days with no drink after countless times reaching day 1 or 2 and giving up cos I felt a bit shaky or uncomfortable......
Well it's only been 6 days but I rode out 3 or 4 days of feeling crappy and the difference is amazing......
Please please please if your new here or just thinking of trying again then Beleive me it IS POSSIBLE.....
Will post day 7 tomorrow

Thanks 'amojority'
For anyone wondering or just starting out, this is what's worked and is working for me...
Early to bed 'every' night.....( might not sleep well but not sat up drinking)
Made a point of eating breakfast EVERY morning...(never used to eat breakfast).
Stopped drinking coffee as I was using it as a pickmeup so wanted to break the link and I've also read it effects Certain parts of the brain that alcohol effects so could actual increase cravings.
Been eating as healthy as possible, sure Ive had had some junk food or something sweet when I've needed it but on the whole I've ate healthy to get my body full of nutrients again.
Water, water, water..... Not just a glass here or there when you remember, carry a big bottle with you EVERYWHERE..... That way you can't forget to drink and rehydrate.
And finally I've been occupying my time with anything from going to the gym, work, sleep, reading, walking the dog, cleaning the house, watching films.......
This is what's working for me right now.
Okay folks gonna go rustle up some lunch then take a shower.
Thanks for reading.

Friend-
Please keep in mind that the "newness" of sobriety will wear off and without warning. At the point, remaining sober, like all good choices, can at times feel counterintuitive, and remains that way. Not trying to rain on your parade. Just letting you know that today and today only will always, always, always be the most important day to remain clean and sober. Don't worry about tomorrow. Next week. Next month or even think about next year.
As long as you continue to make the goal tiny, not only will it feel achievable, but you'll continue to see astronomical results.
Once again, congratulations.

Ps: mrsjosophat, I absolutely promise you it DOES get better..... In fact I'm quite annoyed with myself that I never really stuck it out beyond day 2 or 3 in the past cos looking back now it really ain't so bad.... Yes you feel crappy, anxious, edgy etc etc but is that any worse than the hundreds and hundreds of hangovers people like us have put up with daily for god knows how long...... Best way I can describe it is like a small fishing boat setting out to sea.... It keeps hitting the breakwater, waves crash down on the little boat and force it back, the boat keeps trying to pass the breakwater and yet again gets battered with waves and pushed back...... Now does the captain of the boat give in? Go home without a catch?
Or does he try again? Full throttle and uses all his tools and manages to break through the waves and over the breakwater......
And we all know what lies beyond the breakwater, calm, peaceful open seas......
