Hi folks. I am new here. I am an alcoholic who has made it one week sober. Reading these boards has been a big help for help and I look forward to talking to all of you.

Welcome and congrats on a week of sobriety! I too find this forum so helpful. I keep it open on my work and personal computer so I can drop in time to time for a little encouragement. =)

Hello! New here!
 

Just wanted to say hello! Joined today and have been sober since August 10, 2014. I am in great need of this support and have been having a rough couple of weeks. Mostly just very down in the dumps and sensitive, or angry at my S.O.
Hoping that I will begin to be able to climb out of this depression as my sober
days increase.

Hi NatureLady. When I finally admitted that I need help to stop drinking, I tried AA. I suffer from severe panic disorder. I was self medicating for this. The first meeting went well but at the second one, the man running the meeting started to call on people to speak. I went into full blown panic. Speaking in groups is a huge trigger for anxiety with me. That is why I came here. I can see myself in other posts and speak without the panic. Hopefully, as I work on my anxiety along with my sobriety, I will be able to go to meetings. So far, this group has been support withut pressure.
