Struggling
Hi
I am new to this only clean for 3 and half months and am finding it hard dealing with normal life difficulties sober. I am feeling very low at the moment and do not know what to do with myself. I do not want to drink but do not know what I want.

Desert this is something I fear..dealing with life sober. It was easy to drink myself numb before so I am not sure what I will do when life hits me hard in the face.
All I can say is read up on other alternatives on how to deal with stress, anxiety, sadness etc. Other people deal with these emotions without self medicating and this is something we need to learn.
Stay strong. I know your struggle.

For me personally the fear of normal life went away as I experienced more time sober. I clearly remember how frightening it was to just not drink on a daily basis.
As time went on my body adjusted and alcohol fueled anxiety decreased. I was stuck in this cycle of having anxiety because I was drinking and drinking because I had anxiety.
Keep pushing forward with your resolve to stay sober. If you drank abusively as long as I did you probably have to reconnect with who really are again. Jot down some interests of yours and start delving into them. You might reignite a passion that will lift up your spirits. =)

Welcome to the Forum!!
It's understandable to not know what to do, when all we did for years was drink and if like me didn't have many other interests outside of drinking then Sobriety has created a lot of time to fill!!
For me I needed to sit down and think about what did I now want to achieve in life, what did I get Sober for in the first place, was it not to live life on my terms?
Think about new projects, new interests, new activities, the world has so much potential and you get to write this next chapter in your life!!
