So this is what its like to be sober on a saturday...

Wow have I got a lot done today!!! I can honestly say I'm exhausted, but it is so nice having errands done, a spotless house, clean clothes and sheets, and even put in a few hours at the office.

This is the first Saturday I've been sober or not drank in a very very long time. Mind blowing at how the alcohol made me so lazy. I went to work every day and did the necessary stuff at home but nothing more than I had too.

I am looking forward to going to church in the morning, then coming home and actually watching tv instead of being wasted and not having a clue what I "watched". This new chapter of my life isn't going to be easy, but it sure will be a whole lot better than the last 2 to 3 years.

Hangover free mornings are my new addiction, life is so relaxed, plenty of time to do things, I should have discovered this sooner!!

Great job Sinderos!! Keep it going!!

This is also my first sober Saturday. I can't say I was as active as you, but at least I didn't have a hangover while I was being lazy.

Sharpdistance, tomorrow I have plans to be very lazy...after church that is. The only "plans" I have is to make my lunch for work Monday, cook dinner and maybe go to the gym. Other than that I more than likely will be sitting on my sofa doing nothing. lol I am thoroughly looking forward to waking up not feeling groggy or still drunk.

I told everyone I knew about the first time that I was able to the grocery store after 8PM. Usually I was so blotto I was not able to go or if I did, I didn't remember. It was a thrill to do such a mundane thing again.

Boy I get these posts! I enjoyed being able to do errands and projects without having to have a six pack first. And I drove after 5pm! World record there lol!

I get so much done on Saturdays now that by the time I am in bed for the night I have to correct myself that the early morning things I did weren't done the day before. How did Saturdays get so long??

You are so right with that.
I get more things accomplished in
one sober day than in two drunken weeks.

It feels great doesn't it? I've had a pretty lazy morning myself while my kids have played. They are finally at the age that I can stay in bed a little bit longer after they wake. I have washed and hung two loads of laundry and changed the sheets on my children's beds. Lunch at a friend's house soon and then off to the beach feeling great.
Happy sober Saturday to everyone!

I love this thread!!

I always used to think that being sober would be boring.

I now know that there is nothing more boring than sitting in my house drunk!!

I understand the 'I drove after 5pm!'.
I was amazed at having that freedom too.

Its great to get things done in the house and garden without it all piling up and becoming more depressing.

Yesterday I went out the house as I could not bear the thought of being trapped in doors all day on my own.

It ended up being a day of I'm setting off out and I will see where I end up.
I had my lunch in town on my own and read a magazine.

I tried bits of make up out in a beauty store and sprayed lots of perfume on me.

It might not sound like the most thrilling exciting day to many, but to me it was just a nice way of spending time and I love every minute!

Next weekend, I might drive to somewhere I don't know and see whats to do there!

Wishing everyone the best

And I also forgot to mention that does anyone else think its fantastic to come downstairs and the kitchen not look like a rock band have had a massive party in it?

Its clean, no empty glasses, bottles, ash trays, take away food, crumbs, worse...?

What always got me about being sober and productive, is that there is an entire world out there that this was their norm. And we were somewhere else in our addiction. Its nice to be part of that world. Congrats to everyone who loves being sober.

Sober Saturdays rule! I safely drove my kids and friends to a natural spring head to go tubing in the AM and picked up my daughter at the movie theater at 10 PM. I would not have been able to do that for them had I been drinking. I LOVE the freedom I have sober.
Good job everyone, pats on the back all around.

SuperMega, that hits the nail on the head. I didn't realize it until I read your post. It is the freedom that I had which I loved. I wasn't trapped at home because I had been drinking since my eyes opened.
