likelihood of alcohol withdrawl syndrome or delerium tremens

Hi all. First post ever.

I've decided to quit and is like some advice on the likelihood of going through dangerous withdrawals. I'm not an everyday drinker, in fact I'm a very controlled out if control drinker. I go 7 days between drinks and binge on the 8 th day. In thus binge I'll consume two bottles of wine. I'm currently 46 hrs since my last drink...I feel pretty weak and tired...

What are everyone's thoughts.

As an aside...I scared myself sober, the day after this binge I had my first ever panic attack in a shopping centre...and I refuse to ever let alcohol do that to me again..

Hi and welcome. I for safety reasons would suggest a visit to a doctor to be on the safe side and be honest about your drinking.

BE WELL

I agree and best to nip those panic attacks in the bud too - your Doc can help with that

Welcome to SR by the way!

Mate, we're not allowed to give medical advice here, as everyone is different. What applies to me might be completely wrong for you. I wonder why you want to avoid a doctor? Having that conversation might be the best thing you ever did.

Welcome to the Forum secondhalf31!!

The main thing with withdrawals is that no one has the same experience, so it's tough to predict them, 2 days into things without anything major might mean you're in the clear, but if things start to get rough, please see a Dr!!

Best to be safe!!

Agree with the above, but... if you were already going a week between drinking/binging (more than 4-5), than I can't see how this will be any different... except you'll not be drinking on Day 8/18/80/880.

Every time you quit it can get worse. It's called kindling. Google it.

Always safe to talk to a doctor.

i would agree with everyone else go and see a dr if you have concerns about withdrawals i know i gave up on my own and it took me 4 days to just get some sort of sober thinking in my head i just couldnt sober up as i had drank so much for far to long

i needed medical treatment but i just wasnt in any fit state to do anything other than stay in bed trying to sleep my way to getting sober
it took me over a week before a could shave as the shakes were that bad

when i shared about this at a meeting one time a member told me i should of gone to see a dr as it was very dangerous for me to withdraw like i did

so today i would say the same thing no matter what conditon there in if they have worries go and see a dr

Do you mind if I ask why you don't want to see a doctor? Obviously you don't have to answer, just curious.

When I spoke like that I was asked “how’s it working for you?”
Alcohol can make our thinking and processing on a level that’s not very sane or healthy.
You’re the only one that can get you sober, on your own or with tried and true guidelines, it’s your choice.

BE WELL
