Day One
I guess my header is self explanatory. Been on painkillers, mostly Norco, last 6-7 years, past 3-4 have been daily.
Was sober before, last legitimate cake was 16 years, took 2 more after that I probably shouldn't have. Went from "as directed" and legitimate because of pain, had both hips replaced in 2012 & knee operations in 2008 & 10, to a nasty little dependency.
Not gonna say how this time "feels different" or "enough is enough" but only today is Day One and that's all I have...........

"Cake" meaning I had 16 years sobriety before relapsing. You know, birthday cake......every year sober you get a cake, blow out the candles, everyone sings Happy Birthday....

Read around and feel free to post often! You'll find fantastic information in the Substance Abuse section, but you'll get the fastest replies here in the Newcomer's forum.

Thanks all for the support.
At work, trying to stay focused but detoxing.....I know how that sounds but have to try without a stay in a primary. Taking herbs & the like from the Acupuncturist I see & drinking lots of liquids. Achy and runny nose, feeling jittery, but OK for the most part.
Any other advice would be welcomed....,

Hello and welcome. I am an alcoholic, that is my number one and only problem at the moment, but I did go through a phase about 15 years ago when I was addicted to painkillers. Fortunately for me my mom caught on (I was 17 at the time) and she flushed them all down the toilet and I had no way of getting more. It will be tough for you, but totally possible. Congratulations on your previous sobriety and best of luck as you go about it again. You are living proof that it is possible. Keep it up and stay close, there is a ton of support here.
