Keep it Sober Weekender Thread Aug 15-17
I'm going to an old farm equipment show on Saturday with a buddy. That will keep my mind off of the liquor store for most of the day!
Old cars, trucks and tractors are my "bliss". Tractor shows are especially cool because of all the smoke, dirt, and engine noise.

Love that the weekend starts on Thursday! Even if only in my head!
I am in for the weekend! Thank you for starting us off and managing the helm Purple! Wishing you lots of rest and rejuvenation, Weasel!

Spent the afternoon baking...made 'Magic Lemon Pudding'...(this "magic" pudding separates during cooking to form a sponge topping with a tangy lemon sauce underneath)...and 'Plum Crumble' and custard...after my dad had a bite of each, he said "well, you're improving"...
Also wanted to add that I had 8 months of sobriety before I relapsed. How did I stay sober those first few weekends? Well, I stayed home and read. One thing about sobriety is that I have re-discovered my love of books and I am so happy x

I'm in. My husband and I will be planning, packing and shopping for our 30th anniversary trip to Smith Mountain Lake in central VA. We will be staying in our small, van-like RV (that has a bathroom with shower, two-burner stove, microwave, refrigerator, king size bed, and DVD player!).
We leave Monday morning.
Mecanix, congratulations on quitting the old job and venturing out on your own! I am reminded of a Bible verse: "Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve before kings; he will not serve before obscure men".
Six months is an excellent start--I'm sure you've already got an excellent reputation, so news will spread fast!

Olive, how was book of mormon? Or would you rather not say?
Frustration!!! Went to replace spa controller. I looked online for schematics and wiring diagrams - nothing. Controller has two connections leaving it. One shows up at the PLC. Cannot pull wires because the geniuses blew foam insulation into the small space through which the cables travel. Somewhere in between there is another mystery connection. There are four controllers but only three connectors magically appear. One is obvious. Somewhere they piggy backed cables. Can anyone help? Looks like I may have to pay for a service manual if I can actually find one - and prove I am worthy. Or dealer service at $60/hr. I know he has the manual I need...
Is this how my weekend is going to start?
End of vent.

I am on that sober bus! I am on call tomorrow night so that's a deterrent to booze thoughts! I then have me folks over Saturday for tea! Lots I want to watch too! Here's to another sober one! Might even get the beetle going!
Book of Mormon was ..... amazing!!!! I laughed so long and hard! My last minute seats, with the help of a bumper seat were actually really good. I want to see it again, just because I am sure I missed a little something here and there. If it comes back next year I will be sure to go again! Thanks for the push!
I am pretty sure there are manuals for everything online, you just need to google harder.

Olive, glad you like bom. I want to see it again too.
google is a waste of time, it is by far the worst search engine out there. also, don't buy a marquis spa unless your relative owns the dealership. great product - poor service.

Ah. Thursday is done. Almost Friday.
I took the dog for a walk because the temperature is finally less than 80 outside. The blackberries are ripe and walking past they smell amazing!
Taking a walk always helped me with cravings in the beginning.

I just made an action-packed plan: I ordered tickets for me and my dad for the matinee of The Expendables 3! He wanted me to take him to see The Expendables 2, and I remember rolling my eyes and thinking it was really going to be lame.
But it turned out to be a total blast (literally)! It was full of all the old 80s action stars, and there were plenty of inside jokes about all of them. It motivated me to watch the first Expendables--and I thought Expendables 2 was far better. Jean Claude Van Damme was a really sinister villain.
So tomorrow we're going to see the sequel, Expendables 3. It's going to be fun. I'm super psyched! Does that make me a sicko?
