Coming up on two weeks sober

Hi folks!

I joined this forum a while ago when I had just a few days of sobriety and was trying to go it alone. Now I'm back after joining AA and getting a lot of external support. That's helped me since the longest I've gone without a drink in the past seven years has been around five days or so. But this Friday will be two weeks! I'm looking forward to participating more here, especially on Wednesday evenings since that's the one day a week I don't have a meeting to go to.

The first few days were ugly. Tired, but couldn't sleep. When I did sleep, I'd have scary lucid dreams. Craving a drink no matter what I was doing. But then after about a week my sleep schedule started to normalize, I woke up feeling better and better, and the almost unbearable desire to drink is starting to diminish. Today I threw out the last of the alcohol I had in my house. It was four bottles of beer. I'd been telling myself I'd keep them around just in case I had a guest who drank. That was pretty dumb in retrospect and I was more or less just tempting myself. So now I'm looking forward to getting my one month chip on the 25th.

Well done! Good move on getting the beer out of the house. I look forward to hearing more from you as you continue to meet your goals.
