Do we live in a Bubble? So today is Day 3. I feel a hell of a lot better. I even listened to Music last night and laughed at Family Guy with someone else. It seems that I have not done that for so long. I went for a long walk around town and past all of the bars last night and it was strange. Not because of people drinking. Its just everyone seemed to have friends. I used to have lots of friends. How did that change and I feel so lonely? With no friends. I guess we bring it on ourselves. But, we cannot see it happening. I guess we live in a bubble. |
I guess we get into the bubble of alcoholism, my time was spent facilitating my drinking every day, so much energy and effort put in to something that didn't produce anything worthwhile in my life. Though I always look at it with hope, because if I was that innovative in hiding and disposing of bottles, rotating liquor stores and forward planning all the time to ensure I had enough alcohol in my house at all times. If I focused that same energy and effort into my life now, just think of the things we can now achieve!! :) |
Thanks PurpleKnight. It takes up so much of your life. I am an Alcoholic and a binge drinker. Can go for a couple of days without it. But, 1 drink and then it's 4 days later. I can't remember most of it. Hurt everyone I know. Borrowed money from people. Taken Cocaine sometimes. It just seems crazy that one drink can lead to that. |

Thanks Bob. I was thinking of getting into the gym. Yoga (not that I am very bendy). That sort of thing. Plus I picked my guitar up yesterday for the first time in years. Good luck my friend. |

one of things i had to try to come to see is that being without booze could be a fun way to live life but it means i have to start to do things in my life that dont include booze but can be fun it certainly isn't boring or glum being sober but thats because i have a full day ahead of me,so i am busy of course i could always sit indoors and do nothing but watch the clock tick away and think this sober life is rubbish or i can get off my backside and start to live out in the world without drink it certainly isnt easy as i have to over come so many personal fears, but thats what i have to do and when i have faced fears they go away so enjoy being sober if nothing else it beats waking up the next day in a wet bed and trying to remember what i did last night etc for me |

Thanks Bob. I was thinking of getting into the gym. but, I know how much my wife enjoys it (she's been a regular for 20 years) the gym makes her feel better not only mentally but also physically I know because it truly shows when she does not go when I was going to the gym more often I could not help but notice new ones to exercise coming in and in a short period of time nicer looking bodies with big smiles on their faces one can not argue with that today I prefer to ride bicycles mixed with some light hiking exercising and being outdoors carries with it some special pleasures wishing for you a blessed healthy day Bob |

I live in a flat. |
I used to drink and when I did I had lots of "friends"... I realized quickly that they were more bar buddies then friends once I quit drinking. .. When no one came around to check on me when I stopped showing up everyday. .. When I quit my job. .. When I left town. .. no one came. . No one cared. You will learn quickly that the people who matter will still be there. You will make new friendships that do not revolve around the bar. They will be real and meaningful. Just give it some time. |
