Hey, thanks for that!

These are definitely true in general. For me the culprits can be:

12. You are stuck on your mistakes.
15. You keep thinking about worst-case scenarios.

The common underlying current behind these is very simple: obsessive over-thinking driven by anxiety. So for me the main task for me is to address the anxiety, and letting a lot of the unnecessary thoughts go. Stay in the present. It's very simple described this way, of course the implementation is not that simple :)

I am thinking that probably one could do a similar analysis grouping some of the others points as well based on their roots, and then address them together, because many are definitely related.

I really like that website. Lots of great alternative ways of thinking about things.

I'm a sucker for thinking outside of boxes.

Especially self imposed ones. :)

Happy Sober Saturday Eve !

This list definitely resonated with me. I am and always have been my own worst enemy.

alphaomega 08-09-2014 06:12 PM

I've been thinking about how one of my major reasons for my constantly wanting to chemically escape my reality lies in the fact that I haven't been willing to give myself permission to live my authenticity.

Fear of doing so kept me constantly having to numb out in order to survive.

The more I am willing to step into my own personal truth and own it, the more I find sobriety a much easier path.

It's when I find myself pushing against the authentic me I know I am underneath the facade, that the addiction is able to totally take control.

Living outside your truth is unsustainable for an extended period of time. The real us will just keep banging on the door until it eventually knocks it down.
