I'm Out!
I'm Out!
I got out of detox yesterday, and let me say, this time was an even bigger eye opener than times past. I think in part because I went in with total motivation to completely STOP this time, though there were some sad cases. Compounding this was the fact that it was in a psych ward, so it made the experience doubly powerful.
Of course it was not easy. I cried in my room a few times and just wanted to go home.
But I went to every group. I went to every meeting. I left with appointments with a new physiatrist (they don't think I even have bi-polar, just an anxiety disorder!), a primary care physician, and set me up to start a nighttime IOP on Monday.
I wanted to hit up a meeting at a Young Adults gathering tonight, but that may have to be put on hold as I'm with my poor puppy at the emergency vet
That stress and worry aside, I know I can do this if I stay focused and put in the work.
My sober date is 8/2/14

I spent some time in the psych ward too and I agree with you, it was a powerful experience. It put things in perspective for me to see the elderly catatonic man, or the young girl who was tormented by voices, or others so much farther into the darkness than I. I realized that I was lucky that there were treatments available that could help me. Others were not so fortunate. I'm glad you are finding you're way to creating a better life! I hope puppers is ok!
Puppy update: he's got a herniated disc and it's totally treatable (not such a puppy: he's 9!)
And thanks for the welcome back! Gonna try to find another meeting to go to since I'm missing the Young Adult.
You all rock and I couldn't have gotten this far without you all.
