mind numbing tv shows
Some idea of what genres you're interested in would help people make more relevant suggestions. Also are you looking for network shows, or Netflix shows, or serials, or miniseries, or anime, or crime shows, oh I'm getting to genre now ..
Like, I'm working through a shounen (anime) on Netflix called Hunter x Hunter, which is fantastic (and has like 140 episodes and is still in production), but if you don't like anime (yeah yeah, I'm a grown man who watches what are essentially cartoons, I look in the mirror just fine, thank you LOL) it's not a great suggestion.
I liked Luther, and Netflix added an additional season or two recently, but the seasons are pretty short - that only filled a few evenings.
The Sherlock series with Benedict "otter-looking" Cumberbatch was decent.
I started watching Longmire awhile back, had its rough edges but it was pretty good. I liked the setting (Wyoming - the American desert, basically), and the blond gal who played Starbuck in the Battlestar Galactica reboot (which is actually pretty solid if you like sci-fi) is in it.
But again, these may be entirely irrelevant, depending on your tastes. Any guidance there would improve suggestion relevance greatly.

The Office is a great one for sure!
Some that have helped me, including some repeats from other people:
Bob's Burgers (I am watching right now)
Louie
Workaholics
30 Rock
New Girl
Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon Ramsay
Real Housewives of... (don't judge)
on HBO:
Veep
Big Love
I found shows like Game of Thrones and Mad Men triggering at times, though I love and binge watch both series frequently. I'll try to think of more!

Hot in Cleveland I find surprisingly palatable...

Arrested Development is a great comedy if you have Netflix. Excellent for repeat viewings too because the number of jokes they pack into each scene. The only thing that might be off-putting is that the members of the family drink a fair amount (the mom seems to be an alcoholic) so keep that in mind if that is a trigger for you.
