New Here

Hey guys,

Long time reader, first time poster and all of that! I've enjoyed frequenting these forums for the past couple of years through my road to recovery. I've always found them super useful, although I haven't ever posted up until now! I'm sober now, through the help of some Rational Recovery / CBT books, and I just wanted to let everyone know it does get better. I've been reading some "Sobriety Sucks" postings, and without even clicking on the thread, it's usually pretty obvious that the original poster posts these threads after 2 or 3 days sober. Of course it sucks after 3 days, man! The alcohol rocks your brain, causes it to short circuit. It's like pouring steaming coffee over a laptop.. it isn't gonna work until it dries out fully.. but until it dries out, you'll have sticky keys and the S and T buttons don't work. It gets better though! Kicking alcohol to the curb is literally the best thing that has EVER happened to me. There's no need to be negative or pessimistic about recovery.. it's rough at first.. but then you learn to do things without alcohol. I know it's one thing to read it and it's another thing to actually do it, but the best I can say is wait and see.

Anyway, I just wanted to throw down a post and offer support to everyone! Have a great day!

Welcome! I agree with what you said 100% Learning to live sober is literally learning a new skill. It is rough at times but the rewards are countless. The mind and body has to be allowed time to heal. Again, Welcome and thank you for the inspirational words. Oh and Go Braves
